For The Brand New (and Anxious) Mama

Welcome! I am Rachael Megan, and I’m the author and name behind the blog. Whether you stumbled upon my blog by accident or by choice, I am so grateful you are here. Now that you’ve found my little corner of the internet, you may be wondering…have you come to the right place?  First, I want to share a little bit about me.  More specifically, I want to share a little bit about me when I was a brand new mama.

When I was pregnant for the first time, I followed along, week-by-week, learning how my baby was growing and developing.  I read and learned about ways to support my body as it changed throughout those nine months.  I did all that I could to best support myself, as well as my growing baby.  Each trimester brought with it new information, and I did my research, as well as listened to my doctor.  I was one of those mamas who loved being pregnant…mostly. (I’m looking at you, first trimester).  I felt confident and prepared.  What I wasn’t prepared for was the fourth trimester.  Back then, I didn’t even know there was a fourth trimester.

After giving birth, I knew what to watch out for when it came to postpartum depression or PPD.  Yet, a couple of months post-delivery, when my symptoms weren’t checking off the boxes for PPD, I felt lost.  I knew I wasn’t depressed. I also knew the level of worry and anxiety I was experiencing (among other symptoms) wasn’t normal. About six months after delivering my daughter, I finally found out what I was dealing with: postpartum anxiety. Up until that point, I had never heard of it before. If this is your first time hearing the term “postpartum anxiety,” too, then this blog is for you.

While I hope to help new mothers all along their motherhood journey, my main reason for starting this blog was to bring more awareness to PPA.  I wanted a way to share my own experiences in hopes that other mothers wouldn’t feel so alone or have to suffer for so long.  It helped tremendously to read about another mother’s experience. My hope is that I can be that help for you, too. I also hope you’ll stick around to connect over other areas of motherhood, marriage, life, and faith.

Sincerely,

Rachael Megan
