{Nails of the Day} Barbie-esque

Leighton Denny- All About Me // Models Own- Silver Fox

I wish I could say "spring has sprung", but truth be told, it hasn't just yet. Today has been gloomy and chilly so to get a fix of colour, I painted my nails with a polish I've been waiting to use! This blue toned hot pink by Leighton Denny came in the 12-piece collection I reviewed a few months ago. It suits my skin tone really well. Definately expressing my girly side! I think Barbie would be pleased.
As for the glitter accent nail, I've had this polish by Models Own on my ring fingers since it arrived in the post from ASOS last week. It's lasted more than 7 days without chipping and was only 35 SEK!

I hope everyone's had a nice week since I last posted :) My dad's back in Vietnam for 10 days and on Sunday I am seeing Carrie for the first time in months. I can't wait to give her and Jake their Christmas presents and hear all about Peru.

Much love, Rachael xx

{Designer Lust} Rebecca Minkoff

Don't actually need either of these things, or have the budget to buy them at the moment, but there's no harm in looking! These sandals would be so versatile. Perfect for running daytime errands in the summer paired with vintage cut-offs and a flattering T. Then also nice enough for a casual evening out if you change into something sleek. It took me a while to notice so I'll go ahead and point it out: the piece of leather across the front of your ankle.. It's metalic rose gold. *hands over credit card* And the Mini MAC, simply a lovely bag. I'm not one to carry much around so this would do just nicely for my phone, a few make-up bits, and wod of cash.

What designer bits have you got your eye on this spring? xxx R

The Zara "Luke Skywalker" Jacket (which I didn't buy)

Today I did my weekly round of the shops on the high street to see what's going. Have a massive trying on session. You know what I mean! Before you get the chance to judge what I'm wearing in this photo: I know yellow is not my colour, and no, I didn't buy this jacket.

Why did I even try it on then? I'm a sucker for leather trim and the cut of this looked good even on the hanger. It fits really nicely across the shoulders, and sits pretty against my collar bones. The clean lines and leather bits are such a good idea, but at what point during the design process did this garment go wrong? Let me be frank... It's essentially a well cut and finished off yellow towel. If I were witness to a near-drowning incident wearing this jacket, I would offer it to the victim to dry themselves with.

So I admired the fit for a few minutes, took some pictures, imagined it in a different colour and fabric, then left it there. I wonder if anyone will buy it?

It was already bad enough as is, but the next part of this story is what makes it worth blogging about at all. At home this evening after dinner, I grabbed my mobile to show my brother this photo I snapped at the grocery store the other day:

After laughing about that, he flipped through to the photos of me trying on the jacket. What did he think of it? He thinks it is perfect I want to look like this:

You tell me, guys. Was Luke Skywalker the muse and inspiration for this spring?

Lots of love, Rachael Megan :)

Cat-eye Sunnies: Can't get Dior so how about DVF?

I don't usually ask my parents for something in specific for my birthday. As a fact I can't remember really ever doing so. It's always a surprise kind of thing. And out of them all my favourites have been the experience sort of ones. A sweet-sixteen trip to San Francisco with my dad, and a long weekend in Rome with one of my best friends when I turned 19 last year. This year however, I had something specific in mind that I would have loved to receive from my parents last Sunday on my 20th.

So what I'm talking about is the Christian Dior Zeli sunglasses. Released in September, (I think!) seen on celebs, and right up my street. Aren't they stunning? I like the grey version best, and being blonde they would suit better. But, alas, it doesn't look like they will ever be mine unless I burgle Olivia Palermo's closet because after manically trying to track them down on the web and phoning numerous optitions in 2 different countries, they are pretty much gone from the market. With one exception of a lady in Holland reselling a pair for more than twice the original price, which as much as I like them, is not a price I'm willing to pay. What now? Well here's what:

Meet the Diane Von Furstenburg 524, similiar enough? Let's see. The lenses seem a lot more see-through, can I live with that? The frame shape is also angled upward less, and wider seeming. Oh I just wish this wasn't going to have to be an online purchase! Trying these on would make things a lot easier. What do you think? Do you own either? Are the DVF's a good enough dupe? It might be one of those cases where if you can't get the ones you liked best in the first place, you should just go for something different..

These Miu Miu's are my top favourites right now. If I go for the DVF's I would just be wishing them to be the Dior's the whole time. But these on the other hand are different all together. It's been running through my mind all week. Now that my birthday has passed I sure need to be making my mind up soon!

Advice to settle my worries? Let me know what you think!

Much love, Rachael-Megan xx

February in (a lot of) Photos

I've done it again haven't I.. I hope nobody was holding their breath for another blog post from me because they've been sparse this month! Now I have some motivation and inspiration back so stay tuned :) Before pumping out some new recipes and tips I wanted to catch you up on what my month has been filled with!

Light dustings of snow, little shopping successes (both clothes and apartment decorating wise!), sending long distance Valentines to my friends around the world, nude nails, my dad's birthday, drinking smoothies, working out, baking treats for the family, booking holidays with my best friend to Paris and Berlin, turning 20, and liking Audrey Hepburn more and more!

My birthday was yesterday and I spent it with the family :) It was lovely and sunny and I received some surprising and great presents!

On to March then, I can't wait! Springtime, please xxx Rachael-Megan
